This Aadi Amavasya is highly significant for performing rituals and offerings for our ancestors, It also relieves one for any pitru dosha. During this period, its suggested to do various dhaanam. Among ten prescribed dhaanam, Godhanam / Donating a cow is one among them. Those who are not able to donate cows can serve cows by feeding grass, water and helping in its safety for the welfare of the entire family and generations to come.
This year Aadi Amavasya falls on August 12th 2026. On this auspicious day, feed the cows in our goshala by donating the suggested amount or any amount of your choice.
As an offering to pitrus Our Sastras recommended to offer the following to the cows during this Aadi Amavasya; 1. Soaked Urad Dal, 2. Soaked Chickpea, 3. Soaked Sesame, 4.Soaked Raw Rice, 5. Chopped Raw Banana, 6. Agathi Leaves & 7. Jaggery.
